Vermilion beaches and parks are places to soak in the sun or relax in the shade, each with unique views of our small town.
Main Street Beach & Park
Vermilion's most popular public beach invites you to dip your toes in the water or jump in all the way, build a sand castle, cast a line or just come down for the remarkable sunsets (playing every night!). Look out from the many benches, chairs and grassy spaces , catch a glimpse of a variety of feathered friends, launch a kayak or canoe. Main Street Beach is ADA accessible with a mobility mat and a sand wheelchair.
New bathhouse with restrooms and concession stand - open seasonally.
Linwood Park
Families from all over the country have made Linwood Park their summer home for more than 130 years. A gate fee will get you into the park and beach for the entire day to enjoy the amenities including concessions at The Stand and The Museum Store. The park has plenty of playground equipment, rental cottages and more. Just looking to explore the park? Visits under 2 hours to the park are free.
Sherod Park & Beach
Just west of downtown Vermilion, Sherod Park sits above the stretch of beach making it one of the best outlooks on Lake Erie. The park features walking trails, baseball and soccer fields, a fitness trail, picnic pavilions, tables and grills and the public art sculpture entitled Sails. Quiet and more remote than Vermilion's other beaches, it's ideal for swimming, beach combing, glass and rock collecting.
Showse Park & Beach
The Vermilion-on-the-Lake neighborhood, east of Downtown Vermilion, is home to Showse Beach with its expansive view of Lake Erie. You'll find a picnic pavilion, baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts and plenty of open space. This is a popular rest stop for bike riders.
Victory Park
Swings, slides, a fountain and the rose garden blooms for summer visitors. The Main Line Rail train spotting platform provides a comfy place to watch the train traffic. Main Street Vermilion hosts its Market in the Park here from 10am–2pm, July - August . Every week there's a special event at the Market. Stop by for some fresh, seasonal produce and some fun.
Exchange Park
Perfectly located in the center of town where Main Street meets Liberty Avenue, Exchange Park overlooks all the activity going on throughout Downtown. Comfortably shaded, it has benches, picnic tables and the Public Comfort Station, Vermilion's very first police station and jailhouse converted into a public restroom.
Friendship Park
Vermilion's newest pocket park, this beautifully landscaped setting is next to Ritter Public Library and has a sandstone patio with tables and chairs, a compass rose and storyboard about our shipbuilding heritage. Grab a book, a coffee or ice cream and soak up the local atmosphere.
Vermilion Rotary Centennial Park
Located under our icon water tower in historic downtown, Rotary Park, a project of the Vermilion Rotary Club, overlooks the Vermilion River and provides a perfect vantage point for watching boats and boaters. Beautifully landscaped with benches and picnic tables, it's a nice spot for lunching or relaxing.
