A Thumbprint Art Project
“Be Yourself [Everyone Else is Already Taken]” was a community public art project inspired by a quote from playwright, Oscar Wilde, the project kicked off in April 2023 inviting everyone to create a simple, quick and fun thumbprint drawing of themselves. In five months, more than 600 drawings had been collected with no two being the same because, after all, they began with a unique thumbprint. The project was a great reminder that everyone is different and it’s good to be yourself.”
The drawings were created on small square piece of paper, collected, and mounted for an easy, movable display. Be Yourself Thumbprint Project was on display at Ritter Public Library during the Fall 2023 and during the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce’s Third Thursday.
